Still She Glows

Betty Greer

“Still She Glows” is about strength — the kind you earn by getting through the hard moments life throws at you. I wanted to capture that exact point when the fight is finally over. There’s no noise, no chaos, just a calm glow that comes after you’ve healed.

To me, the storm represents anything that tries to overwhelm you. This painting is my way of showing that your inner strength can outlast all of it.

I painted her face and hands in a more realistic, luminous style because her calm, steady expression needed to be the centre of the whole piece. Her gaze is direct on purpose — I wanted it to feel sincere, as if she’s telling you that you can survive your own storms and glow too.

The background and dress are different — they’re full of movement and texture, because they hold the history, the emotion, the struggle she’s come through.

My hope is that when you look at “Still She Glows,” you take a moment to think about your own storms, what you’ve survived, and remember that your strongest glow comes from everything you’ve already overcome.
