Still She Glows oil painting by Betty Greer.png

Behind this painting

This painting is about how we can build another layer of strength after difficult times.

It came from thinking about the moments in life when you have to pick yourself up, steady yourself, and keep moving — even when the outcome isn’t clear. Staying can sometimes feel more difficult than taking the risk of change and moving through the unknown.

There have been times where I’ve had to walk through difficulty rather than stay where I was. It wasn’t easy, but I knew I needed to keep going and move through it.

What I’ve learned is that resilience isn’t about being unaffected by what happens. It’s about continuing anyway — making the decisions that are hard in the moment, and trusting that something will shift on the other side.

In the painting, her stillness is the focus. The calm expression is intentional — it holds the feeling of having come through something and still standing in it with strength.

The storms in the background reflect what she has lived through — the tension, the change, and everything that can come with moving through difficulty.

A moment to reflect

When have you kept going through something difficult, even when it wasn’t easy?
