Behind this painting
This painting is about allowing myself to stop.

It came from a time when I had been pushing for so long that I no longer knew how to rest. I was trying to think my way through everything — holding tension in my body and constantly searching for answers.

There came a point where I had to stop doing that.

During this time, I was encouraged to try something simple — to lie down and breathe without trying to fix or work anything out. At first, it felt unfamiliar. I realised how quickly my mind wanted to over-analyse and question everything

But slowly, something began to shift. Letting thoughts pass without holding onto them gave my mind space to settle. My body started to release tension, and my mind became quieter.

Over time, that stillness became something I could return to. It gave me a way to reconnect and ground myself when things felt overwhelming.

In the painting, the lightness and space reflect that feeling. The figure is resting, held in a moment where nothing is being pushed or forced.
A moment to reflect
When do you allow yourself to truly rest?
