Behind this painting
This painting is about what I began to notice when I allowed myself to rest.

After moving through periods of overwhelm, I started to recognise the early signs when tension was building again. I realised I needed to slow down and respond with more care, rather than push through it.

Rest and stillness became something I returned to more often. In those moments, I began to notice what happens when the body settles — the colours, movement, and light that appear behind closed eyes. In that stillness, I began to notice new ideas, thoughts, and realisations coming through.

I became curious about this quiet, internal experience, and what it might look like if it were brought into a painting.

In the painting, the shifting colours and forms reflect that inner space — something that isn’t fixed, but constantly moving and changing as the mind settles.
A moment to reflect
What do you notice when you give yourself time to be still?
