Love Accepted by Betty Greer_edited_edit

Behind this painting

This painting is about allowing myself to receive love.

For a long time, I didn’t fully understand what love was meant to feel like. I was used to shaping myself in relationships — adjusting who I was without always realising it.

As I began to accept myself more, something shifted. I started to see that the parts of me I had once questioned — my sensitivity, my depth — were not things I needed to hide or apologise for.

I began to understand that I was worthy of love as I am.

In my own life, I found that in my husband. He sees me for who I am, and with him I’ve come to understand what it feels like to be supported and accepted without needing to change.

In the painting, she is at ease, trusting the love she is receiving. She is open and loved for who she is.

A moment to reflect

Can you think of a time when you felt accepted for who you are?
