01 - THE POWER WITHIN
Behind this painting
This painting is about the strength I discovered within myself when life put me to the test.
There have been situations in my life where I wondered how I could possibly get through them. But I just knew I had to. Giving up wasn't an option. I kept going, even when I didn't know how things would work out.
Along the way, I discovered something about myself. I had a strength within me that showed up when I needed it.
It helped me survive things I never thought I could.
It gave me the courage to make brave and difficult choices, change old patterns and behaviours, and create a life around the people and things I love.
In this painting, I expressed this feeling with light moving through the figure, representing the strength coming to the surface. Her hair carries it outward, suggesting that the strength we find within ourselves can reach beyond us and inspire others too.
This strength is at the core of everything that follows. Without it, I wouldn't be living the life I lead today.
