Behind this painting
This painting is about learning to see yourself with kindness — and discovering that the parts of you that once felt like limitations are often the very things that make you who you are.

For a long time I questioned parts of myself — the way I needed space to recharge, my tendency to withdraw, the careful pace at which I learned to trust. I once saw these as things to overcome.

Over time that changed. I began to understand that these qualities were shaped by what I had lived through — and that within them lived a depth and awareness I had never given myself credit for.

In the painting, the marks behind her are not wounds. They are traces of a life fully lived.

She is not trying to erase them. She holds them as part of herself, with earned acceptance and grace.
A moment to reflect
What parts of yourself have you come to see differently over time?
