Behind this painting

This painting is about allowing yourself to receive love without question.

For a long time, I didn't fully understand what love was meant to feel like. I had grown used to adapting myself in relationships, often without even realising I was doing it.

​

Once I became confident in who I was and no longer needed approval from others, I stopped adjusting myself and simply became me. I understood that real love wouldn't want to change me. I could recognise it, and more importantly, let it in.

I found someone who loved me for everything I am, without condition. My husband.

In this painting, she softens into an embrace. The connection she has found feels safe and genuine. There is nothing to prove.

This is what love looks like when we find the right kind of love and finally allow ourselves to receive it. We understand that we deserve nothing less.
