This painting expresses the feeling of freedom and complete joy.

There are moments in life when everything you have worked toward, hoped for and chosen finally arrives. You feel it not just in your mind, but in every part of yourself. A deep breath. Space. Clarity. A warmth that glows from somewhere inside and fills everything around it.

That's where this painting came from. The feeling of having left behind what no longer belonged in my life and arriving somewhere that finally could be mine. The simple, overwhelming feeling of I'm here. I actually did it.

In this painting, I chose to paint a woman standing at the water's edge, her face lifted into the sea breeze, a light scarf streaming from her hands as she releases it into the air. She is feeling release and freedom through her whole self, filled with hope about everything that is still to come.

Liberation feels like standing before a blank canvas, free to decide what we put on it.
