This painting is about the moment you choose to step into a new chapter of life.

It came from one of the biggest decisions my husband and I ever made together. We chose to leave behind the life we knew in Scotland and begin again in Türkiye.

​

We didn't know exactly what our new life would look like, but we had come to trust ourselves and each other enough to know it was time. The pull towards this new life was stronger than staying where we were.

​

Threshold is about that moment. I painted a woman walking forward, stepping into the bright unknown, away from the solid concrete floor she has come to know. The door is wide open, with light streaming in and inviting her forward.

For us, it was a step we are so glad we took.
