Behind this painting
This painting is about learning how to become a safe place for yourself.

Until this point in my journey, I had learned how to endure—to stand through difficult times and keep moving. But there came a point where endurance alone was no longer enough. I needed support. I needed space to understand the things I had carried for so long and begin to heal them.

During therapy, I was invited to imagine a safe place I could return to when things felt overwhelming. That process led me somewhere unexpected—to the understanding that safety doesn't always come from outside ourselves. It can be something we learn to build within.

This painting grew from that realisation. It reflects the practice of meeting yourself with care and steadiness—of becoming the safe place you perhaps once looked for elsewhere.
In the painting, the closeness between the figures holds protection and trust as they look toward what comes next together.
A moment to reflect
In what ways are you learning to offer yourself safety and support?
